Kite flying @ PROTON

It's that time of year when the sky assumes all the possible colours from your set of crayons. The festival of Makar Sankranti (also called Lohri or Pongal) or Uttarayan, is one of the most anticipated festivals of the year for any true Amdavadi. You will find every single terrace space in the city occupied and bustling with music and energy. The name Uttarayan comes from joining two different Sanskrit words "Uttar" (North) and "ayan" (movement towards). Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti) is the day when the sun starts to travel towards north as a sign of coming summer. It is the most celebrated festival of Gujarat. Uttarayan is the time to indulge in ceaseless amazement - in the most pulse racing kite competitions. There are kites and more kites, in all shapes and designs, but some stand out for their sheer size and novelty.

So PROTON Ahmedabad celebrated it with full enthusiasm. All the kite enthusiasts pitched themselves at the terrace. The entire ambience was filled with a feeling of anticipation joy and jubiliation. Kites of all shapes and sizes were flown, and the main competition amongst Protons was to battle nearby kite-flyers to cut their strings and bring down their kites. The culture committee organized the whole event. They had also made beautiful invitation cards for inviting the staff members. There were loads of sugarcane, and other tasty food to munch on. The IT committee had also arranged for some loud rocking music to which filled in more vigor and enthusiasm into the jubiliant mood of Protons. It is believed that we should throw our dreams into space like a kite, and we never know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new opportunity. As we breathe in the last bits of the winter breeze, Protons just sat back and enjoyed the sight of the sky splashed with thousands of different colours. It was the time to get the spirits soaring as high as the kites. May this uttarayan bring all the happiness in everyone's life.

It's time for positive change!
