Don’t be afraid to “think different” – ‘ENTREPRENEURSHIP TALK’ at PROTON business school
“Great entrepreneurship can happen anywhere with the right leaders, team and idea”. These sentiments were echoed at PROTON business school during Global MDP XVI by the eminent guest speaker, Ms. Amy Blitz, Ph.D., MIT, USA.
Ms. Amy Blitz is an expert on innovation and entrepreneurship, and currently is a Director of a start-up venture in partnership with Gary Hamel. She has led major research initiatives on issues related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategy at Harvard Business School, Ernst & Young, and with an NGO in the Philippines. Based on interviews with leading entrepreneurs from diverse industries, regions and backgrounds, she shared her views on “ Insights from Leading Entrepreneurs”, describing the entrepreneurial journey and some critical success factors for future entrepreneurs - a topic of immense contemporary interest for all as post recession, entrepreneurship and innovation have been the burning issues. Her work has found a prominent place in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, The Wall Street journal, MSNBC and other leading media outlets.
The session commenced with a warm floral welcome accorded to the guest. Ms. Amy Blitz initiated the session with a note of importance of entrepreneurship. She stressed that it was imperative to give an innovative bend to entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs take these innovations and make them into viable products. So the idea of entrepreneurship is about preparation, imagination and awareness coming together and creating something new. She advised that entrepreneurs should bring innovation to society and it could be really fulfilling if they do so at the start of their career.
Describing her entrepreneurial journey, she explained at length the lessons learned from her experience with both small and big organizations. She reiterated that being alert, finding a niche and being creative with capital can spell success for an entrepreneur.
She exhorted Protons to find mentors, to learn to lead and to dare to dream big.
Her extraordinary session provided insightful learnings about building an expertise, how to adapt and how to tack against the wind.
The session culminated with the speaker handling interesting queries that came from the Protons.
It’s time for positive change!
