The Significance of the First 1000 Days in one’s Career


“Start small, but if you work hard then sky is the limit” these were the words said by the key note speaker Mr. Anhul Chauhan on another Expert Guest Lecture Series held at PROTON business school, Indore Campus. Mr Anhul Chauhan has done his Engineering form SGSITS, Indore and is an IIM-Calcutta Graduate with more than 10 years of marketing and sales experience across Asia on multiple product categories with P&G. His experience includes marketing, specifically trade and channel marketing, franchisee setup, customer management and direct sales. He has lived and worked, managed and led people in India, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.

The event started with a floral welcome presented to the guest by the Chief Mentor, PROTON business school, Mr. Sandeep Manudhane.

Mr. Anhul Chauhan talked about how one should manage the first three years of one’s career. He explained that one should learn from failures, because lessons learnt from failures leave a great impact on attitude. He also said that one should accept whatever comes in ones way because it might help in some way or the other.

As mentioned by Mr. Anhul Chauhan, the most important things to be taken care during the first 3 years of ones career are-

  1. Use knowledge base leadership, talk sense and lead the world
  2. Find a mentor and build healthy relationship with them
  3. Prepare yourself prior for any competitive situation
  4. Discover yourself and play to your strength
  5. Whatever it takes “Mindset”, do whatever you want to achieve your goal without hurting anyone 
  6. Write down your goals and how you will reach them
  7. Maximise your time , keep yourself fully engaged and spend time with family and friends
  8. Never underestimate yourself and never place limits


The speaker concluded the interactive session by giving examples on the significance of human relationship because customers don't buy product but they buy relationships. Towards the end of session, the speaker very optimistically responded to the queries raised by Protons and gave practical inputs and shared real life situations. The Session concluded by reciting the PROTON Honour Code by the positively charged Protons.
