Unison - 2010

Unison, 2010, started with a very pertinent social message - “Water is the basis of a strong economy. Clean water means less disease, and less absences from school and work. Ample water means irrigation for crops, providing a reliable food supply. It facilitates industrial processes, allowing for increased material wealth. “This was the message that was shared by the Protons in the street play ‘Water is Our Friend’. The play depicted the scene in the life of a poor farmer who is praying to the almighty for water. His crops are dying and he is worried that the forests are also turning into arid landscapes. Listening to the prayers of the poor farmer, Lord Indra appears to him and says that he has been giving the Earth water but the water is misused by mankind. And now, he will not bestow rainfall until man realizes the importance of saving water. As Lord Indra, says this, he disappears into heaven leaving the farmer realizing the worth of conserving water.

This was followed by the inter-collegiate presentation competition which was named as ‘Vision India 2050’. Institutions such as IIT Indore, Malwa Institute of Technology, Gujrati Innovative and Vindhya Institute of Technology participated in the competition. Each of the participants presented a brilliant depiction of development in education system and good governance for economic growth and for India to emerge as a super power by 2050. The participants focused on the significance of initiative taken by the government like Unique Identification Number, NAREGA, and JNURM. They also focused on preserving the culture and the rich heritage of India. The winner of this competition was Gujrati Innovative College of Commerce, while IIT Indore was the runner up.

Another event that was organized by the IT Committee of PROTON was ‘Gaming Invasion’. This event was carried on in two phases- preliminary round followed by the finale. The competition was formatted on different online games such as Need for Speed’ (NFS), and ‘Counter Strike’. The objective of having such an event was to enable the coordination of mind and body and also to judge the mental aptitude. The Chief Mentor, PROTON business school said that such kinds of gaming exercises could serve as a great tool for recruitment in order to identify a particular skill in candidates.

The next series of events were organized at Mayank Blue Water Park. There the event commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Mentor, Mr. Sandeep Manudhane, Mr. Manish Saraf, COO PT universe and Dr. Vinay Goyal, Dean, PROTON business school followed by Saraswati Vandana performed by Proton Deepshikha and group. After that Proton Gurdeepika and group performed on the number ‘Chiggy-Wiggy’ which took away the mind, body and soul of the audience. Along with this, Satyam and group performed on a funny dance number and made the audience burst into mirth. Proton Rajat and group tapped their feet on some exciting bollywood numbers.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live or what is happening around. Keeping this in mind, the next event was the fashion show which was based on the themes ‘rough and tough’, ‘Hawai’ and ‘Halloween’.

Communicating ideas and opinions stands tantamount as the one skill that all human beings must do well to succeed in their lives. This could not be done better through a drama performance. The next event was a drama named ‘Beggars 2020’. This comedy drama portrayed the status of beggars in India during the year 2020.

Unison would not be complete without a musical performance by PROTON Band. The melodious performances by the members of the PROTON band Committee surged the audience forward and back in one relentless wave like the wild waves of the ocean during a high tide. The crowd rocked when the Chief Mentor, Mr. Sandeep Manudhane joined in with a spectacular musical performance. The stage was a constant flurry of excitement. It presented a fantastic sight and the atmosphere absorbed the audience into the aura of his performance. The mood was ecstatic and upbeat throughout the show.
