The demand pattern of Indian consumers is changing rapidly. There is a vast difference between the demand of consumers in earlier era, and the 21st century. Therefore, it is very important for fresh entrepreneurs to have an in-depth understanding of current market & to recognize the huge potential in Indian markets.
To enlighten students on this topic, PROTON conducted a special session on “Indian consumers in the 21st century”. The eminent speaker Mr. Saurabh Soni (Product Manager, Idea Cellular Ltd, MP & CG) discussed the need and demand specifically for Indian market.
The discussion accentuated changes in behavior of Indian consumer due to changes in income distribution and increase in information level. The Indian market has high potential as it has-

- GDP Growth Rate of 8%
- 40% of population below 21 years of age
- Per Capita Income doubled in last 10 years
Indian consumers now demand the products with a blend of tradition & modernity. This has formed the demand for Indo-western products like- Mcdonald’s Aloo Tikki, garments etc… At the end there was a discussion on possible changes in coming future which was followed with question and answers round.
