Global economy is facing the darkest of times. The world is watching with bated breath the outcomes of trillion dollar bailout packages. To raise funds for business enterprises in such tough conditions is indeed a herculean task for everyone, especially for fund managers.

To throw light on this delicate but immensely interesting issue in recession times, two eminent professionals were invited to PROTON business school. The experts - Mr. Vikram Gupta, COO - India Venture Advisors Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Yashodhan Sathe, CIO - India Venture Advisors - were all set to orient Protons.

Mr. Vikram Gupta, an entrepreneur / fund manager / fund raiser shared his personal life experiences and elucidated techniques to raise funds in the tough market. Being an entrepreneur himself, he explained that earlier this was not a popular option for many, but it has changed over the years. Today, it is extremely challenging for the entrepreneur who want to do things differently in his profession.

Mr. Vikram Gupta laid stress on the fact that challenges always bring innovation. The most typical challenge for an entrepreneur is to raise funds to launch his/her innovative idea. He said that most of the failures occur at the 'moment of investing' because everyone starts thinking negative. He advised the Protons to believe in their ideas and try to turn them into reality. The conviction with which ideas are backed makes a big difference.

The next expert Mr. Yashodhan Sathe (Chief Investment Advisor) also shared his knowledge on the investment planning during crisis. He advised Protons to evaluate a company on the basis of fundamentals before making any investment into it, and also evaluate the growth prospects which the company (shares) may provide the investor. And he gently reminded everyone - 'the same rule applies to you as an entrepreneur'.

Finally, chief mentor Mr. Sandeep Manudhane extended his thanks to the guests and requested them to conduct a full day workshop on these technical topics on campus. The session ended with an energetic Chaupaal, and the Honour Code.
