PROTON's FMB Programme
Conducting business is a dynamic process. Education must support it. And “Business education” should be directly helpful in running businesses profitably. It has been observed that many general management courses presently run in India are based on the American or European model. This approach does not cater fully to the needs of various traditional family business houses. Many management graduates thus, maybe not fully prepared to join their family businesses, and may need many more years of practical training to bridge the gap.

PROTON business school’s innovative PGP programme in Family Managed Business (FMB) is run with this particular requirement in mind. We have a firm belief that just as a new-born child is destined to be a grown up man, every traditional family business is also capable of becoming a large and profitable business house, while retaining its basic values intact.
PROTON’s powerful FMB programme is designed around 3 thought areas:
1. What is business?
2. What is YOUR business?
3. What WILL BE your business?
The first question deals with the conceptual framework of ‘business’ itself. Many time-tested and profitable business practices are discussed under this. Various aspects of business i.e. money management, people management, sales and marketing, business efficiency & execution discipline are covered, from an FMB perspective. And as you will discover, the FMB perspective is totally different from a general MBA perspective (of an employee)!
The second question intends to develop insights about the particular family business of a FMB participant. He (or she) analyzes the business model on the basis of the parameters of a modern business organization, and then learns more about the various factors contributing to profit maximization and wealth maximization.
The third question helps the FMB participants develop a broad practical vision for the business’s future and to take suitable steps to achieve the same in a volatile world, teeming with Black Swans.
All three questions, and hence approaches, flow in parallel throughout our FMB programme. The participant is forced to think through, and work on, every aspect of his running business. This ensures a total relevance of learning efforts.
