Leadership in Global Technology Firms - Changing Times, Demanding Customers
“It is not about being a leader any more; it’s all about creating the leaders.” The statement holds strong authenticity in today's corporate era. To redefine the real meaning of the word ‘Leadership’, PROTON business school conducted a special session on “Leadership in Global Technology Firms- Changing Times, Demanding Customers” The speaker for this topic was Mr. Manish Kasliwal- Global Head, Telecom Business Strategy & Marketing, L&T InfoTech, Chairman & Co-Founder, Young Jains of India [YJI].
The session started with the basic needs and requirements of being an effective leader. As said, leadership is simply the ability to lead and it is facilitated when you point people in a given direction and it happens to be the correct decision.
It needs various bold characters within to be effective leader like-
- Dreaming Big
- Ready to take tough and quick decisions
-Hire the best
-Fire non performers
- Embrace change and adapt
-No attachments
- Encourage team members to make decisions
- Willingness to invest
- Calculated risks
- Set aggressive goals
The session further discussed the on-going global meltdown and its impact on organization. Any international / transnational corporation with plants or other direct investment in one or more foreign countries is known as a Global firm. It needs structured corporate structure for excellent understanding of different cultures of various countries & their diversified demand for being successful in global market.
Finally, the Protons asked various questions which were handled by the guest speaker. The session ended with a special learning for Protons - to observe organizations more globally and concentrating more on diversified needs and demands world-wide rather then thinking domestically only.
