Quality Management in Manufacturing Organisations - Mr. A Ramasubramanian
Quality is momentum. It keeps on changing with the time and needs. It is directly related to customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is basically technology driven i.e. with the advent of technology people desire more and more which results in increase in quality standards.
These were the thoughts expressed by Mr. A Ramasubramanian (Chief Executive- Eicher Motors). He has done his Mechanical Engineering from Pune and has a rich experience of 33 years. He was at Proton to enlighten the students on the topic “Quality Management in manufacturing organizations”.
He talked about various technical aspects of the quality and its management. He also explained the concepts of standard deviation and central tendency as ways for quality management. He also mentioned that less variance is not considered as best in every field. For example a designer wants to give more variance to the manufacturers whereas the manufacturers need to be the least.
He explained the Kano’s Model which tells that when a customer’s unspoken and unexpected needs are fulfilled he feels delighted and gradually these needs convert to unspoken but expected ones. He also laid emphasis on the value engineering as a measure to analyse quality of the product.
As a whole, it was an enlightening session for all the students as they learned some very good technical aspects of the quality management in a simplified language. At the end, he solved queries of many intrinsic Protons. |
